About London

Weather / Climate
Greater London covers an area of 609 square miles (1,579 km²), making it one of the world's largest cities by area. London has a temperate climate, with regular but generally light precipitation throughout the year. Summer temperatures rarely raise much above 33 °C (91.4 °F). The weather is very changeable and unpredictable. Winters are cold and wet with occasional snow, and summers are generally warm with frequent showers. July and August are the warmest months, while January and February are the coldest, however temperatures do not usually drop lower than 32°F (0°C). The most pleasant times to travel in England are spring (May and June) and autumn (September and October). The Lake District is the wettest region in England, receiving about 130 inches (330cm) of rain a year.
Religion
London has centers of worship for a multitude of faiths. However, historically it has been dominated by Christianity. It has a large number of churches around the area. London Currency
The UK unit of currency is the pound sterling (£). In London we often call one pound (£1) a "quid" and sometimes a "nicker". One pound is made up of 100 pence (p).
Getting there
Passengers arriving in London by air will land at one of five international airports; Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton or London City If arriving from Europe, the best tip is to fly in with one of the low-cost airlines. There are many, many of these airlines offering routes between various European cities and London: Ryanair and Easyjet are probably the most well-known, and they have flights from all over Europe to London. London has six main rail termini to which you may well arrive - Euston, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Paddington, Victoria and Waterloo. Euston and King's Cross will probably be your arrival stations if arriving from north England; Liverpool Street from east England; Paddington from western England and Victoria from south England. Waterloo will also be your arrival point if arriving from south England, or from Europe on the Eurostar! You might arrive in London by bus from elsewhere in Great Britain (take a look at the National Express website for fare and timetable details) or from Europe with companies such as Eurolines. The main coach station in London is Victoria Coach Station.
